I am a “wanh wanh wanh” parent!

“It’s very tempting to repeat yourself, remind, and explain instead of following through with action.  Kind and Firm parents save their words to talk about how wonderful their children are, or to enage in conversations about interesting topics, or explain how life works.”

From “Positive Discipline A – Z; 1001 Solutions to Everyday Parenting Problems” by Jane Nelsen, ED.D, Lynn Lott, M.A., M.F.T.,and H. Stephen Glenn.

“repeat yourself, remind, and explain” — yup, that would be me.  And in case I had any illusions that my in-depth elaborations have an impact on my kids, my son recently crushed them by pointing out that I am just like any other Charlie Brown adult — “Wanh wanh wanh…”

So, using my words wisely and my actions even more wisely is a goal.  Piece of cake, right?!
